the world's auto makers and the Photos@VectorTrust.com team was there to record the results. Originally printed in German

How to take Great Racing Action Photos at the Dakar Rally.
    Client Only/Non-Public Page
The Dakar Rally, previously known as the Paris- Dakar Rally, is a multi-stage motorsports event running across the Mediterranean and the top of the African continent.
It changed substanually in 2007. "Dakar" remains one of the most challenging assignments in motorsports. Originally, the rally was from Paris, France to Dakar, Senegal, hence the name.
The only break in the action was the ship-bound transfer across the Mediterranean. Dakar was almost always the final destination. Over the years, the originating start and the exact route changed
as politics, economics, and the emergence of criminal violence in 2008 forced changes. The events popularity saw serious decline when drivers, team support personnel
and media members died during the event. Unless you are a very experienced ex-patriot media professional, with serious support resources,
we highly recommend that you do not take lightly the considerations to accept a media assignment to this event. It has been renamed the "Dakar Series" and relocated
to South America in 2009, which means we had to "learn" all over again. For 2014, the Dakar will route thru Chile/ Argentina/ Bolivia. This event will never be a "tourist" event and should not be treated as such.
